Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 15, 2026
Nova Labs LLC ("Nova," "we," "us," or "our") develops and distributes Nova, an AI assistant application for macOS. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit our website, purchase, download, and use Nova, how we use and protect that information, and the choices you have. By using Nova or our website, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only the information that is reasonably necessary to provide, secure, and improve Nova:
- Information you provide directly. When you purchase a license or contact support, you may provide your name, email address, and the contents of your messages. If you choose to participate in optional surveys or beta programs, we may collect the responses you submit.
- License and activation data. To verify a purchase and activate the app, we process your license key, the app version, and a device identifier. This allows us to confirm that your copy of Nova is genuine and to keep your license valid across the devices you own.
- Usage and diagnostic data. With your consent, Nova may collect basic telemetry such as macOS version, app version, feature usage counts, and crash reports. This data is aggregated where possible and helps us fix bugs and improve performance.
- Payment information. When you purchase Nova, payment details (such as card number and billing address) are collected and processed by our payment provider. We do not store full payment card numbers on our servers.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To deliver, activate, and maintain your license for Nova;
- To provide customer support and respond to your questions and requests;
- To process payments, issue receipts, and handle refunds;
- To improve Nova, fix errors, and develop new features;
- To protect the security and integrity of our app and services;
- To send you important notices, such as security alerts or policy updates;
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling that would fall outside the purposes described in this policy.
3. Legal Bases
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process your personal information under the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract. Processing needed to provide Nova to you and to manage your license and payments.
- Legitimate interests. Processing to secure our app, prevent abuse, improve product quality, and respond to support inquiries, where our interests do not override your rights.
- Consent. Processing of optional telemetry, crash reporting, and any marketing communications, which you may withdraw at any time.
- Legal obligation. Processing necessary to comply with applicable law, tax, and accounting requirements.
4. Sharing with Third Parties
We share personal information only with service providers who help us operate our business, and only to the extent needed to perform their functions:
- Payment processors to handle transactions and refunds;
- Cloud hosting providers to store data and operate our services;
- Analytics and crash-reporting services, where you have consented to telemetry;
- Email and support tools to deliver messages and manage support tickets.
These providers are contractually required to protect your information and may not use it for their own purposes. We may also disclose information where required by law, in response to valid legal process, or to protect our rights, safety, or property. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, and we will notify you of any material change in ownership or use.
5. Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy. License records are kept while your license is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to support accounting and legal obligations. Support correspondence is retained for up to three years from the last interaction. Telemetry data is kept in aggregate or de-identified form wherever possible and deleted no later than 24 months after collection. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or anonymize it in accordance with our retention schedules.
6. Security
We take reasonable and appropriate measures to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit (TLS), restricted access to personal data on a need-to-know basis, secure storage of license keys, and routine reviews of our security practices. While no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, we work continuously to maintain safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information we hold. In the unlikely event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
7. Your Rights (CCPA + GDPR)
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights with respect to your personal information:
- Right to know and access. You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Right to correction. You may ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Right to deletion. You may request that we delete your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Right to restrict or object. You may ask us to limit processing or object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Right to data portability. You may request your information in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Right to non-discrimination. Exercising your privacy rights will not result in different prices or quality of service.
- Right to complain. If you are in the EEA or the UK, you may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), you also have the right to request that we disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA. To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@getnova.top.
